The Humongously Huge Adventures of Beatrice Bean

Beatrice Bean in goggles and a scarf standing on a snowy peak, with the text “She climbed to the tippity top of Mount Everest.”

When my niece was born, I made this book for my brother and his wife as a Christmas gift. The story catalogues the life of the tiny Beatrice Bean as she fearlessly tackles adventures of all sizes.

I made the book in a few weeks, so some of the illustrations were a bit thrown together. I did like a bunch of them included here.

Beatrice Bean shouting beside the legs of much taller beans, with the text “But she never grew to be quite as large as all of the other beans.”
A man at the Luna Theatre saying “All beans must be at least this tall to get on the ride!” to tiny Beatrice, with the text “Everywhere she went she was reminded of just how little she was.”
Beatrice raising a finger, with the text “Just then Beatrice thought back to all of the adventure books mama and papa bean used to read to her when she was a baby bean. Suddenly, in a deep, determined voice she declared then and there: ‘I’m Beatrice Bean and I’m going to have the biggest adventures of all!’”
Beatrice climbing the ladder of a freight train car, with the text “So she hopped a train and crisscrossed the country.”
Beatrice with green hair playing guitar in front of a Marshall amp under a “Tenacious B” sign, with the text “She started a punk rock band and played in clubs all over the world.”
Beatrice floating in a spacesuit, with the text “She flew so far into outer space that planet earth appeared smaller than the littlest speck dust.”
A poster-style portrait of Beatrice Bean in blue and red above the word “BEAN,” with the text “She even ran for president.”
